Porto Taigun is a beautiful rural property close to the mouth of the João de Tiba river, 500m from Santo André’s small ferry port.
The property comprises several houses and bungalows occupying a generous 5 hectares of river bank, with a large waterfront pier and deck, complete with open air kitchen and dining area. Each house has its own terrace with hammocks looking acrss the garden to the river. Mature trees and flowering shrubs surround the houses, providing shade and a welcome habitat for wildlife, including toucan and humming birds.
Thanks to the excellent location, guests can easily enjoy a wide range of actvities: boats, kayaks and paddle boards are available for hire on the beach or the river, with longer trips to the coral reefs or up the coast by schooner. You can swim in the river at the garden’s edge, and the village beach is a pleasant walk away through the mangrove forest. During low tide, you can even wade across the river to the islands in the middle.
If that all sounds too energetic, don’t worry: the best way to enjoy Taigun’s peaceful setting is in a hammock, sipping a cold beer or caipirinha and watching the river flow gently by as the sun sets over the forest…
Yours hosts, Ana Lucia and Henry, live on site and can provide advice and information about local activities and services. Each house is cleaned, and sheets and towels changed, twice weekly. Accommodation is self catering, but meals are available on request, as is daily maid service. Selfservice laundry is available on site.
A wifi internet network runs throughout the property, although as always in rural areas, coverage can sometimes be subject to interruption.
There’s plenty of off road parking, and bicycles can be hired during your stay.
